blackbird finishes

All of these designs are from the With Needle & Thread book by Blackbird Designs.  I stitched them with Carrie’s Threads several months ago.  I finally found time to finish them yesterday – when I really should have been sorting through some boxes of papers and things!

The floral printed fabric is used for the back of the little alphabet pillow and on the the tiny rectangular pin cushion with the blue bird. I used the Cinnabar Weeks Dye Works hand-dyed wool on the back of the round Quaker pin cushion and filled it with tiny pebbles.

I used the brown pine cone fabric on the back of the pillow with the 2 brown birds. I used up several scraps of hand-dyed linens on these . I have a few more things on my work table I’d like to finish today but I really need to get the rest of my things out of Jerry’s office, sort them, and put them away.

:0)

PS – I could not repair the problems with the comments feature of my old blog theme – I’ve switched over to this new theme in order to correct the problem.

  1. Your finishing has given your stitched pieces a very special touch. Thank you for the inspiration – my goal for 2007 is to do more finishing other than framing. Happy Stitching!

  2. I love your finishing….so clever!!! The pillow with the 2 birds is darling, and the alphabet with the sheer ribbon is wonderful!!!
I must remember these ideas as I have this book. I just need to stitch them!

  3. Great finishes, Mary Kathryn! I love the florals and it must feel so nice to have your pretty stitching on display now.

I also really like your new blog template! It is nice to have a change. 🙂

  4. How lovely to have such pretty things on display. So often we finish things and they lie around in dark drawers. Your mini pillows are a sight to behold. I just love the pale green fabric with the yellow roses.
I love this new format, it’s so easy peasy :>)

  5. All your finishes are absolutely gorgeous Mary Kathryn. I have this book on my Christmas list so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that DH will treat me to it:)
